H20 + Orthophosphates + Mission City + Corrosion + Origins is the 14th episode of Season 5 in the 2016 reboot version of MacGyver.
Synopsis[]
In the episode, Mac and Desi go with Bozer back home when his mother's best friend dies in a tragic accident. But soon after arriving there, they realize that the woman’s death may have been murder, and the city’s contaminated water supply holds the key to finding the killer.
Plot[]
Previously on Macgyver, a montage is shown about the nanotrackers.
Macgyver and Boser are looking at something and Mac's hand is feeling better. Riley walks in. Boser receives a message saying his aunt Pamela has died. Now they will attend her funeral.
Arriving home, they meet the parents. It is believed she crashed and they get ready. Meanwhile, Mac looks around and sees a lot of people and learns about the Aunt. There is also moments where Mac remembers old times. Boser sees someone he does not recognize. Mac is suspicious about her death as reports say there is a higher level of chlorine from a river; Desi and Mac think she is murdered and her body placed in the river.
At Pheonix Foundation, they have leads. The broker was talking to a pharmaceutical company in the US; its hackers tried to break into the servers but was foiled by the extreme security. Riley has a plan to gain access and talk to its CEO to talk. Riley is with her hacker startup group, and deciding on how to hack into the group; and they call Mac so that they can hack into the firm by getting the encryption keys. Riley poses as a potential job seeker and meets the CEO and is shown around. He says nanobots could stay in the body indefinitely.
Mac and Desi are called to go out and retrieve a cell phone of the aunt. Boser is goaded by his mother to read for kids, as part of a reading by Auntie Pamela's reading program.
Mac somehow tracks the phone and tracks it to the sewer system, and he uses some makeshift items to retrieve it. Both looking at the contents, and are perplexed. They receive a call from Boser, who is has returned from his trip and is being chased by the same Mercedes as he saw earlier and the evidence on the phone indicates they will chase after Loretta.
At Macgyver's grandfather's cabin, they believe they are safe. Boser's dad has arrived. They tell the parents that Auntie found evidence of a water pollution conspiracy, and received emails about it. She was sending off duty police officers investing a plant that was dumping items.
Riley returns to Phenonix headquarters and consults the person there and talk. They have a new plan.
Mac and Desi head to the hydro-processing plants. Entering, they are confronted by an employee, but they convince him to hand over reports.
At the safe house, people come and enter the house, and confront them, demanding the content. Boser uses a Mac original smoke bomb to trigger the alarm and escape.
Conclusions; the factory they were at was in the dark, but was given money to stay quiet. Water was taken in and not treated properly.
Riley sends a The Brink member and enter the the building via pizza delviery. She enters the server room.
Mac and the Boser's dad head to a processing plant. THE MAN ARRIVES WITH 2 SECURITY OFFICERS HE PAID OFF, but a distraction results in his being cuffed. Boser's mom takes Boser and Desi to City hall and to her own office, where they could help. They find a note from Pamela. An Alarm is triggered and Desi is forced to kck off one of thehenchmen, w hile Boser does a trick to force him away. A brief confrontation sees his mother knock him out. Mac and comes.
In the end, everyone in the coverup was taken into custody.
At Boser's home, the three eat. Boser tells his mother he can't take a job, and his mother knows he is a govt agent because the way he presented information. She knows he can't say anything because of secrecy. Back at the Phreonix Foundation, The group has determiend that there was one person who was fired from the company. His name is Orson Marcato and he was fired years before. Video footage shows he has taken items from the place and as a result, he has used it to devcleop items.
At Mac's place, Riley visits. They bond over a beer.
