The Quantum Recursive Chip is also known as the Quirk is a DARPA prototype that is the next generation in microprocessors. The device’s incredibly fast processing power needed able to hack into and overpower any supercomputer. The chip contains a rootkit software tool that gives the user complete and undetected control of any network. The quantum chip has to be stored at the extremely cold temperature of - 230 degrees Kelvin or it will disintegrate.

A mysterious terrorist organization kidnapped General John Acosta’s daughter and grandson and blackmailed him into using the Quirk to give them control over the NORAD nuclear missile defense network. Acosta hired the Phoenix foundation to steal the chip from a DARPA’spremier facility in Los Angeles. The general convince the foundation that they were being hired as a Red Cell team that would tell the facility security. After the Phoenix foundation stole the quantum chip Acosta framed them and traveled to Cheyenne Mountain Complex to hack into NORAD’s systems. Angus MacGyver was able to break into the facility and convinced the general that his family with safe and he did not need to use the chip. Once Acosta stood down, Major Anne Frost revealed that she was part of the conspiracy and tried to use the chip to complete the mission. MacGyver with able to stop her by breaking the Quirk’s containment casing which disrupted the cold environment and cause the chip to disintegrate.
