Season 4 of the rebooted MacGyver series was premiered on February 7 and concluded on May 8, 2020. The season was originally due to have a full season of 22 episodes. After the season break, most episodes were filmed but due to the COVID-19 Pandemic the series was cut short and the remaining episodes were moved to be part of Season 5 in order to keep up with CBS' release schedule. Codex serves as enemy force of this season.

• On May 9, 2019, the series was renewed for a fourth season.
• On June 7, 2019, Levy Tran has portrayed as Desi Nguyen has upped to series regular.
• On June 28, 2019, it was announced that Henry Ian Cusick has joined the series who played Russ in this season.
• Shortly after, Justin Hires posted blog on the internet during the filming of episode 1 and 2.
• The series would film in July 2019 and wrapping up in April 2020.
• On November 6, 2019, the series picked up 22 episodes of this season.
• On March 12, 2020, the fourth season were suspended for two weeks during the COVID-19 pandemic and reduce up to 20 episodes. However the episodes filmed beyond episode 13 will be part of Season 5. To make use of MacGyver during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic which is already delaying the start of 2020-2021 TV season.
• This is the only season Murdoc does not appear so far.
