Wilderness + Training + Survival is the 13th episode of Season 3 in the 2016 reboot version of MacGyver.
Synopsis[]
When MacGyver takes Riley and Bozer into the wilderness for survival training, things take a turn when they run into a violent group of bank robbers which kill each other with MacGyver killing the final member.
Jack and Matty go on a road trip to place Matty's ex-husband and his family in witness protection.
Plot[]
Cold Open[]
Mac, Riley and Bozer found a good spot in the forest to spend the night. Riley was having troubles trying to make fire so, Mac showed them how to make fire easily and fast with a plant that grows up in the forest. In the morning, Riley wakes up Bozer just to realize that Mac was not with them, they thought he was around hiding to force them to follow his traces as part of their survival adventure. When they began, Bozer found a cigarette filter that Riley recognizes from the campfire they had found earlier theprevious day, and a footprint that wasn't Mac's. Meanwhile, Mac was kidnapped by a gang of thieves, that needed a mountaineer who knew the place to find a box with stolen money in that area through the woods. Bozer and Riley began to track him down calling for Mac. The thieves kept walking as Mac was indicating them which road take and advancing them the dangers of climbing a rock with an invisible ice cap on it, but the gang's boss says that there's no time to waist so they better conntinue. When climbing, one of the thugs puts his foot into a hole causing him to slip, fall and break his ankle, Mac says that they will need to stop for a few hours to let him recover and splinting his ankle and a crutch, although he will walk very slowly. Giovanni, the gang's leader told his friend not to worry, that they will take care of him. Giovanni sent the other thugs and Mac to find something to do what Mac said, but as soon as they turn around, a strong gunshot is heard, that Riley and Bozer were able to hear from they were, and it was Giovanni that shot his friend and avoid loosing time because of him. Riley and Bozer began to run, following the shot's noise but Riley falls and injures her leg. She tells Bozer to keep going, but he stops and administers first aid, and kept going.
